Vintage Computer Recapping
A Brisbane-area assessment of ageing computer boards and systems, with capacitor replacement scoped to the machine and its condition.
An old computer deserves a diagnosis before anyone reaches for a soldering iron. If you have a machine you want to keep using, we can assess its condition and whether recapping—replacing selected ageing capacitors—is the right next step.
What we assess
We start with the exact machine and board revision, its symptoms, any previous repairs and the condition of the boards and power supply. A recap is not a universal fix: faults elsewhere in a system need their own diagnosis, and parts and board condition affect what work is practical.
What the work may involve
After assessment, we can scope capacitor replacement and the electrical checks appropriate to that machine. We’ll explain the proposed work, parts considerations and what can be tested before agreeing to proceed. Some machines may need a different repair path or may not be suitable for the work requested.
What to send us
Tell us the make and model, any board identifiers you can see, what the computer does now, what you want it to do, and whether it has been repaired before. Include your location; Brisbane-area assessments come first. We can ask for photographs by email after your initial enquiry.

Tell us what you need and we’ll confirm whether we can help and what to assess next.
